On June 22nd and 23rd on the fields of the Stella Maris-Villa Rita, organized by the Croatian Volleyball Federation (Croatian Volleyball Association), and co-organized by the city of Umag, by the Umag city tourist board, by the company Plava Laguna Poreč, and from the Umag men’s volleyball club, will host the CEV Continental Umag Cup 2019 in beach volleyball, which is also a qualifying tournament for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
This is the tournament of the first phase, which will host teams from 4 countries, Estonia, Denmark, Albania and Croatia. The two teams in the first position go to the second round of qualifying.
This year we also celebrate the 25th anniversary of the first official beach volleyball tournament in Croatia, held on August 12th 1994 on the beach of Katoro-Umag. From then until now, the city of Umag has been an organizer and co-organizer of several world championships for the younger age categories (U19 and U21), CEV Continental Cup, Croatian Open Championship, and many other beach volleyball tournaments.
For this reason Umag is the so-called cradle and the pioneer of this sport in Croatia.
For this weekend we will have the opportunity to see the best athletes from 4 countries, so on this occasion we invite all lovers of beach volleyball, sun and sea to join us at Stella Maris next weekend. Admission is free.
