"8.UMAGO OPEN 2018" CHAMPIONSHIP OF BEACHVOLLEY
As in the last seven years, here we are again, the eighth time the MOK Umag-CPM Umago has organized the championship on three in beachvolley, men's and women's team, 8.UMAG OPEN 2018. 35 teams participated in the tournament, 17 men and 18 women. In total there were 21 teams from Slovenia and 14 teams from Croatia, for a total of 119 competitors. In a fantastic atmosphere and excellent matches in the group stage, (in groups of 5 and 4 teams), we had the opportunity to see the best matches in the quarter finals, semi-finals and in the matches for the 3rd and 4th place, and in the finals, both gone to the 3rd set and then provide a real treat for fans of the sport. All this was played on 4 beautiful beach volley fields in Stella Maris-Vila Rita near the sea. In the women's final the MAREA team from Rovigno (HR) and the PAPAGAJKE team from Vransko (SLO) were compared. After 3 sets, the MAREA athletes took home the title with the result of 2: 1 (18:21, 21:16, 15:06). In the men's final the KALUN team from Ljubljana (SLO) and the BIVŠI MEDICINARI team from Zagreb (CRO) are compared. And even here the match went in the third set with the victory of the KALUN team for 2: 1 (15:21, 21:10, 15:06). After the final there was the award ceremony and the medal of the medals that was carried out on behalf of the President of the men's volleyball club MOK UMAG-CPM UMAGO Mr. Edi Forza. I would like to thank on behalf of the organizers, the men's volleyball club MOK UMAG-CPM UMAGO, and in my own personlae name, all the participants of the tournament who responded in such large numbers to our tournament, and participated in this event, which it is growing every year. Special thanks go to our valued members, senior citizens and young members, to the coach, club members, volunteers, members of the OK UMAGO women's volleyball club, members of the IKB recreational society, and judges, without whom all this it would not have been possible, that all these eight years are always here and ready to help in the organization and thus contribute to the success of this event, in the city where everything started with beach volleyball in 1987 and laid the foundations in 1994, with the first Croatian beachvolley championship. This once again confirms the justification for the title of European Sports City 2018, which our city proudly holds. At the same time, we would like to thank the city of Umag and its departments that have contributed to the organization of this event.
