THE VOLLEYBALL TODAY CALABRATE THE 123 YEAR’S BIRTHDAY

On today, February 9, 1895, William Morgan gathered several Springfield College teachers to demonstrate the new sport.

It’s been 123 years since the first historic match of the volleyball. Sport that has always evolved, leaving the unchanged passion of those who practice it.

At that time Morgan could not find a game that looked like volleyball, so he created it from his own personal training and recreational methods.

Describing his first experiments, Morgan said: “In search of a proper game, my tennis first came to mind, but we needed balls, rackets, nets and other equipment so I dropped it off, but the idea of my net made it handsome. We raised a net of 1.98 meters above the head of an average man. Besides, we needed a ball. I first thought about basketball, but it was too big and too heavy. ”
Finally, Morgan asked him to work at the factory of A.G. Spalding and Bros. Make the right ball, what they did and did. They made a leather ball with a size of about 65 cm and a weight of about 300 grams. After that, Morgan, with two other friends, wrote the first rules of the volleyball.
